The update
In its September 23, 2026 release, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported USD $62.8 billion in freight between Canada and the United States during July, across all transportation modes. That was 7.8% above July 2025. Trucks accounted for USD $33.6 billion of the Canada–U.S. total.
These figures describe the value of goods, not carrier revenue, freight rates or shipment weight. The values are in current U.S. dollars and are not adjusted for inflation.
What matters to your shipment
Our takeaway: the report underlines trucking’s role in cross-border trade, but a successful movement still depends on the details of the individual load. Confirm the pickup and delivery locations, equipment, receiving appointment and border paperwork with the parties responsible before dispatch.
